    It would be folly of the highest order to dismiss this right now. Not all problems can be dismissed as personal differences which can be brushed aside as the playground squabbles of ten-year-old children. Both parties make a living through GNOME. If one party feels that the other is such a negative influence on the project as to warrant a high-profile disruption like this, it would be sensibly to treat this as such. Do you think Microsoft managers tell their subordinates to "kiss and make up" over things like this?

    this is pure pettiness

    I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that everything you know of this story was gleaned from Planet GNOME within the last ten hours. As such, why on Earth are you in a position to ascribe motives to the protagonists?

    @Chris,

    Jeff does not, and never has made "a living through GNOME". All his contributions to GNOME over the many years he has been involved (including when he was release manager) have been on his own personal time. Please be sure about what you say, there are enough painful mistruths already.

    @Pia: my intention was not to continue this argument on yet another blog. it was just meant to provide my take and advise a return to the that the task jeff, murray set out to do which was build a better desktop.
